Five Steps of Clergy Tax Preparation
Step 1 – Order and complete the Clergy Tax Organizer (required to use our service)
The first step in the tax preparation process is to complete the Clergy Tax Organizer. The Clergy Tax Organizer and accompanying state worksheets are designed to be a learning tool, a reference guide, and a source of helpful recordkeeping. It is also the primary source of data used to complete your return, so it is important that you read the entire organizer and fully answer all of the questions that apply to you.
Step 2 – Upload the following tax material in a PDF file format to your CyberCabinet.
-
-
- Clergy Tax Organizer (only upload the final version to the organizer to avoid duplicates)
- State Worksheet
- Last year Federal and State returns (new clients only)
- Supporting documents
- Gov’t tax forms i.e.W-2, 1099, etc.
- Year-end pay stubs
- Current pay stubs
- Compensation package outline
- Do not upload receipts
- Other tax documents needed for review
-
Step 3 – After you have uploaded your documents, our office will verify we have everything to move forward with your tax review.
Step 4 – Once your documents have been checked in and confirmed, we’ll send an email to schedule your tax review.
Step 5 – During your tax review, we’ll be looking back one year for consistency, identifying possible tax-saving opportunities in the current year, and looking forward to one year to determine adjustments for estimated payments or optional withholdings. This will be the final stage to complete your return. Your completed tax return will be uploaded to your personal CyberCabinet for your review prior to e-filing.
